What is Ultrasound?

Ultrasound – as the name suggests – is sound Technology that is used at very high frequency

As you can probably see from the image on the right, Ultrasound can be quite unclear to the untrained eye however in the hands of a trained expert, it is a phenomenal tool in allowing precise treatments for Patients

We pride ourselves in the use of Ultrasound Technology and have found a large amount of success in using US Guided Therapies and Injections for our patients.

What do I need to know about Ultrasound as a patient?

It can improve the effectiveness of your treatment

For mild to moderate chronic pain Ultrasound has the ability to create a ‘map’ for Clinicians to see the anatomy of your body; and understand what’s really causing your pain.

As with any procedure not everything is applicable to everyone, so it’s always worth speaking to your Clinician and checking if it’s available in their practice.

The level of expertise your Clinician has

The effectiveness of a tool is only useful when the one using it is proficient in it.

What we mean is, you need some degree of understanding as to how good your Clinician is at using Ultrasound Guided Therapies; and you can very quickly understand this by asking them how often they’ve used it for patients and how effective they find it!

What makes Ultrasound different to other Scanning Modalities?

Ultrasound Technology differs from other Scanning Modalities as it utilises different techniques; and different types of wave frequencies.

Where in other Modalities such as MRI scans Radio frequency is used, Ultrasound utilises higher frequency waves to generate a different image of the bodies anatomy.

Each Modality has it’s uses in Clinical practice; and we’re always at the forefront of information and advancements when new Modalities are approved for Clinical Use!
